Isophthalic Resin is a medium reactive quick curing unsaturated polyester resin offering good chemical resistance and high heat stability. Resin provides excellent chemical resistance against most organic and mineral acids, solvents, oils and inorganic salt solutions. It is an unaccelerated and non-thixotrophic resin. UV stabilized versions are also available in specific requests. This resin is generally used in mold making because of its extreme durability. Isophthalic polyester resin also can be used where superior water resistance is desirable. This resin does not have to be used in mold making but, if used for general resin application, the final coat has to have the wax (tack free additive). Cast Sheets made out of this resin have been approved by CFTRI Mysore for Food Contact application.
